Code of Conduct
The following are policies and procedures for FBX Poker School Practices:
The primary purpose of FBX Poker School Practices is to facilitate hands-on learning for new and returning poker players.
FBX Poker School has adapted Mohegan Sun Poker Room Poker Rules and will closely follow those posted rules in regards to poker play.
Practice students may not violate state or federal law, including Alaska gambling codes; illegal gambling is prohibited.
Practice instructors will report violations of the law, including:
AS 11.66.200. Gambling.
(a) A person commits the offense of gambling if the person engages in unlawful gambling.
(b) It is an affirmative defense to a prosecution under this section that the defendant was a player in a social game.
(c) Gambling is a violation for the first offense. Gambling is a class B misdemeanor for the second and each subsequent offense.
Students may, at their own choosing, decide to play a “social game” where betting for something of value is allowed and, according to Alaska law, legal.
Students, as a group, are always able to play during Practice time without betting for money or anything else of value.
During Practice time, regardless of whether the students include a value-betting component or not, FBX Poker School charges $10 per practice lesson. This fee is not associated in anyway with gambling. It is not connected to any “social game”; rather, this fee pays for the feedback and coaching services given directly by the Instructor.
Feedback and coaching for a fee is provided to students during the Practice even if the poker game being played is no stakes (i.e. the $10 Lesson Fee will be charged whether students play for money or not).
Illegal gambling occurs when the casino or "house" takes a "rake" (which is a percentage of the "pot") or otherwise profits from the gambling enterprise. Casino's might take 5% of the amount players wager each hand. FBX Poker School will never just take any portion of any pot of money that players bet to win for themselves. Players may elect to have the lesson fee taken from their winnings, however.
Any player during Practice time may deal the cards or act as the bank; students may elect, however, to have one specific player deal or may ask the Instructor to deal permanently throughout the game.
Students who participate in Practice must conduct themselves honestly and responsibly and respect the rights of others. Students may not engage in behavior that disrupts the learning environment, violates the rights of others or otherwise breaks any law or ordinance.
Students who participate in Practice agree to abide by the FBX Poker School Code of Conduct. Prohibited conduct under the Code includes but is not limited to:
o Assaulting, harassing, intimidating, or threatening another individual or group
o Using foul, derogatory, or demeaning language that is intended to hurt or insult
another player
